Jean Debute was born in approximately 1791 in The Netherlands [?].
He served as a soldier with the 16th Light Infantry (Jäger) Cavalry Regiment in Napoleon's Army and fought against the Russians. He was captured by the Russians.
Milovidov records that as of 1814 his father, mother, four brothers, and two sisters were still living in the town of Kastle [Blieskastle].
He was settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt and assigned to the household of Johann Köhler.
In 1817, he relocated from the colony of Rohleder to the colony of Wittmann.
Johann Debute from Rohleder and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Wittmann in Household No. 104.
Milovidov records that Jean Davo came from the village of Alschbach (Blieskastle).
