Binedell, Nicholas Arthur

Nicholas Arthur "Nick" Binedell was born 12 May 1953 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. He is the founding director of the Gordon Institute of Business Science at the University of Pretoria in Johannesburg, South Africa. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Washington.

His Volga German ancestors came from the colony of Nieder-Monjou.

Befort, Earl

Father Befort grew up in Schoenchen, Kansas. He was ordained in 1969 into the Capuchin Order. He served St. Catherine Catholic Church in Catharine, Kansas, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays, Kansas.

His Volga German ancestors come from the colony of Ober-Monjou.

Appelhans, Stephen Anthony

Stephen Anthony Appelhans, son of Mr. & Mrs. John Appelhans, was born 27 December 1905 in Pfeifer, Kansas. He grew up in Spearville, Kansas. At the age of 14 he entered the Seminary of the Society of the Divine Word in Chicago. On 5 May 1932, he was ordained into the priesthood in the Seminary Chapel and was assigned to New Guinea as a missionary. Due to his work among the natives of New Guinea, he was designated by Pope Pius XII on 8 July 1948 as the Vicar Apostolic of Eastern New Guinea. He was ordained as Titular Bishop of Catula on 30 November 1948.

Anschutz, Philip F.

Born 28 December 1939 in Russell, Kansas, Philip Anschutz traces his Volga German ancestry to the colony of Nieder-Monjou. His father was Fred Anschutz. The family moved from Russell to Hays to Wichita where Phil graduated from high school. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in finance.

An American entrepreneur, Anschutz made his initial fortune in farming and ranching, oil, railroads, and telecommunications. He has also ventured into music and sports entertainment. Anschutz Entertainment Group owns (or has owned) the following sports fanchises:

Fernández de Kirchner, Cristina

Cristina Elisabet Fernández Wilhelm is the daughter of Eduardo Fernández Fernández and Ofelia Esther Wilhelm Pulidio. Cristina was born on 19 February 1953 in La Plata, capital of the province of Buenos Aires, and was the wife of Néstor Kirchner, President of Argentina from 2004-2007. Cristina was elected to succeed him and was inagurated on 10 December 2007. She was elected to a second term in 2011. She was term-limited out of office on 10 December 2015.

Geringer, Jim

James Edward "Jim" Geringer was born 24 April 1944 in Wheatland, Wyoming.  He served as the 30th Governor of Wyoming from 1995 to 2003.

His father, Gottlieb Geringer, was from the Volga German colony of Lauwe and his mother, Edla Malin (née Johnson), was of Swedish descent.
