Hölz, Franz Karl

Franz Karl Hölz, son of  Franz Bernhard Hölz (1773-1837),  was born 18 October 1806 in Wermelskirchen b. Remscheid (Germany). He and his family moved to Russia in 1814.

He studied theology at the University of Dorpat (Estonia) from 1828-1830, and was ordained in 1831.

He served the parish in the Volga German colony of Warenburg from 1834 until his death there on 6 October 1883. He is the father of the Rev. Karl Theodor Hölz, the Rev. Karl Julius Hölz, and the Rev. Karl Leopold Hölz.

Hölz, Franz Bernhard

Franz Bernhard Hölz, son of Peter Hölz ​​& Maria Margaretha Echternach, was born 29 August 1773 in Oberdiebach b. Bacharach (Germany).

He married Wilhelmina Nabel who had been born in 1783. They immigrated to Russia in 1814. Pastor Hölz was ordained in St. Petersburg. His first parish was Slatoust (1814-1816). He then moved to the Volga region where he served the parish of Rosenheim from 1816-1820, and the congregations in Frank and Hussenbach from 1820-1837.

Hoelzer, John

Johannes (John) Hoelzer was born on 6 August 1868 [tombstone records 1869] in Norka, the son of Johann Georg Hölzer (born 1840 in Norka) and Christina Jörg who was born in Norka in 1845. The Hoelzer family immigrated to the United States in 1886.

John married Margaretha Giebelhaus on 2 November 1890 in Nebraska. Margaretha was born in Norka on 6 August 1871.

Hinsch, Eugen Friedrich Georg

Pastor Eugen Friedrich Georg Hinsch, son of Dr. Friedrich Hinsch & Margaretha Henning, was born 21 September 1820 in Riga.

He received his theological education at the University of Dorpat, and was ordained in 1845.

He served the parish in the Volga German colony of Galka from 1849 to 1856 and the parish in Smolensk from 1857 to 1869.

He died in Smolensk on 9 February 1869.

Heut, Peter

Father Peter Heut was born in 1894 in Sewald. He was ordained in 1917 and served several parishes in the area of Novocherkassk.

He served the parish of Petersheim before 1927, when he went to the Crimea. He was arrested there in 1932 and accused of participation in the Volga German clergy conspiracy.

Following a tribunal before the secret police, he was sentenced on 18 January 1933 to 10 years of prison at the Medveshya Gora Belbaltlag near Finland. In April 1936, a letter was received from him at the Polish Red Cross in Moscow.

Herwig, Johann Georg

The Rev. Johann Georg Herwig, son of teacher Conrad H. Herwig and Elisabeth (surname unknown), was born in Aue near Eschwege (Germany) on 11 July 1714 and died in Norka on 29 April 1782. He married in Willershausen, Hessen (Germany) on 12 February 1742 to Sophie Elisabeth Stippus. She was born in Willershausen (Germany) on 29 October 1710.

He started his theological studies on 25 September 1736 at the seminary in Marburg. From 1741 to 1756, he served as pastor in Willershausen near Herleshausen.
