Some translations erroneously record this surname as Weigand.

There are two Thiels who were married in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen in February 1766. Both came from the German village of Höchst im Odenwald. They are presumed to be siblings.

(1) Anna Margretha Thiel married Martin Schæffer from Köstrich in the Darmstadt area on 24 February 1766.

Martin Schäfer, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 30 May 1766 aboard the pink Novaya Dvinka under the command of Lieutenant Ivan Perepechin.

Katharina Bach, widow of Heinrich Bach, and their children ([a] Jakob, age 17; [b] Johann Christoph, age 14; Barbara, age 11; [c] Joseph, age 8; Elisabeth, age 5; Magdalena, age 2) are recorded on the 1798 census of Graf in Household No. Gf25.

[a] Jakob Bach and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Luzern in Households No. 35 & 76.

[b] Johannes [Christoph] Bach and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Graf in Household No. 30 along with his mother Katharina.

Andreas Dienst from Florßheim on the Mayn & Anna Margaretha Hilsch from Neuhoff were married on 9 April 1766 in the City Lutheran Church in Friedberg.

Andreas Dienst, his wife Anna, and [step-?]daughters (Wilhelmina, age 18; Maria, age 13; Katharina, age 10; Elisabeth, age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 June 1766 aboard the hooker Anna Catharina under the command of Skipper Adolph Scharpenberg.
