The 1767 census records that Samuel Gutjahr came from the German village of Mitau in the Kurland region and that Anna Maria came from the German village of Lutherborn in the Isenburg region.

The 1767 census records that Kornelius Stahlbaum came from the Dutch town of Amsterdam in Holland and that his wife Anna came from the town of London in England.
Rosenfeld was founded in 1872. The original German settlers were from Bessarabia (Black Sea region). Volga German families also settled in and around the daughter colony of Rosenfeld.
Today, what remains of the former colony of Rosenfeld is known as Sheremetyevskoye.
