Nikolaus Axt, a butcher (Fleischer), and his wife Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Jost on 5 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 17 along with stepson Johann Adam Flemming (age 1).
The 1767 census records that Nikolaus Axt came from the German village of Saalfeld in Sachsen (Saxony).
