Discussion & Documentation

Franz Bettingheimer, a miller (Müller), and his wife Maria are recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits that is appended to the 1767 census along with a note that they settled in the Volga German colony of Zug in 1768.

Their descendants are recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Zg37 along with a note that Johannes Bettingheimer is working in the colony of Luzern.

The 1767 census records that Franz Bettingheimer came from the German village of Berling [Berlingen?] in the Mainz region.
