Anton Bettingheimer, a miller (Müller), and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 2 August 1766 aboard an English frigate named Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Franz Bettingheimer, a miller (Müller), and his wife Maria are recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits that is appended to the 1767 census along with a note that they settled in the Volga German colony of Zug in 1768.
Their descendants are recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Zg37 along with a note that Johannes Bettingheimer is working in the colony of Luzern.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Anton Bettingheimer came from the German region of Mainz. The 1767 census records that Franz Bettingheimer came from the German village of Berling [Berlingen?] in the Mainz region.
