Three siblings (Valentin [Eckardt], age 17¼; Karl [Eckardt], age 16; and Anna Magdalena [Eckardt], age 12) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard a Danish galliot named Der Engel Rafael (Archangel Raphael) under the command of Skipper Ehlert Kongsted with their mother and [step-]father, Nikolaus Sasse.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Laub on 15 September 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 46.
In 1788, Karl Eckardt and his family moved from Laub to Lauwe.
