Johann Michael Glanz, son of Johannes Glanz (born 21 September 1662 in Lorbach), was baptized 26 March 1706 in the German village of Lorbach. He married 24 February 1735 in nearby Diebach-Haag to Esther Jacobine Sorberger, daughter of Johann Jacob Sorberger, from Vonhausen.
Johann Michael Glanz & Esther Jacobine Sorberger had at least three sons: (1) Johann Jacob, baptized 20 February 1746 in Büdingen; (2) Johannes, baptized 28 September 1748; and (3) Abraham Georg, baptized 5 May 1754, died 22 April 1757.
Widow Esther Glanz and her sons (Johann Jakob, age 22; Johann, age 20) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 10 August 1766 abord the Russian pink Vologda under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Bartenyev.
They arrived in the Volga German colony of Norka on 15 August 1767 where they are recorded on the 1767 Census in Households No. 35 & 36.
