Discussion & Documentation

Bartholomäus Günther, a single farmer, and his mother Anna Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 August 1766 aboard a ship named Кир Иоанн (Cyrus John) under the command of Midshipman Gavriil Poddubskii.

Joh. Bartolomeus Günter [sic] is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Bartholomäus Günther and his new wife Maria Elisabeth are recorded on the 1767 census of Stephan in Household No. 4. They had arrived in Stephan on 24 August 1767.

In 1796, son Andreas Günther moved from Stephan to Dobrinka.

Johann Christian Günther from Dobrinka and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Oberdorf in Household No. 20.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Bartholomäus Günther came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that Bartholomäus Günther came from the German village of Albersbach in the Darmstadt region.
