Johann Christoph Herdt, the son of Christoff & Anna Elisabeth Herdt, was baptized in Wolf on 17 December 1719. Anna Catharina Schröder, daughter of Adrian & Anna Elisabeth Schröder, was baptized on 8 February 1719 in Wolf.

Johann Christoph Herdt & Anna Catharina Schröder were married in Wolf on 6 February 1744.

Johann Christoph and Anna Catharina had six children, all baptized in Wolf: (1) Johann Conrad, baptized 25 October 1744; (2) Johann Heinrich, baptized 23 June 1747; (3) Sophia, baptized 8 September 1750; (4) Susanna, baptized 18 February 1753; (5) Carl Friedrich, baptized 27 July 1755; and (6) Jacobina, baptized 3 December 1759.

Christoph Hardt, his wife Anna, and children (Konrad, age 23; Johann, age 20; Sophia, age 17½; Susanna, age 15; Karl, age 12; Jakobina, age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.  They had settled in Messer on 18 June 1767.

Widow Christoph Hardt, a farmer, and his children (Johann Heinrich, age 23; Sophia, age 18; Susanna, age 16; Karl Friedrich, age 13; Jakobina, age 9) are recorded in Messer on the 1767 census in Household No. 62. His newly-married son Konrad and his wife Maria Elisabeth are recorded in Household No. 63.

On the 1798 census of Messer, Konrad is recorded in Household No. Ms11.

It is believed to be the widow of Christoph's oldest son Johann Heinrich is recorded on the 1798 census of Messer in Household No. Ms22 along with their children.

By 1798 Christoph's son Karl has moved to the colony of Kautz where he is recorded in Household No. Kz36.
