Hans Adam Heckmann, son of Christoph & Eva Catharina Heckmann from "Amt Brackenheim", married on 22 January 1745 in Reihen to Anna Margaretha Schallenberger, daughter of Hans Georg & Anna Maria Schallenberger. Anna Margaretha had been baptized on 9 May 1727 in Reihen.
The Reihen parish register records the baptisms of nine children born to Hans Adam Heckmann & Anna Margaretha Schallenberger: (1) Maria Elisabetha, born 13 May 1746; (2) Johann Michael, born 26 May 1748; (3) Anna (Maria) Barbara, born 2 January 1751; (4) Johann Georg, born 3 April 1753, died 31 July 1753; (5) Johann Bernard, born 2 July 1754, died 1 February 1755; (6) Johannes, born 2 January 1756, died 30 January 1757; (7) Jacob, born 1 February 1757, died 31 August 1757; (8) Johannes, born 29 January 1759; and (9) Anna Margaretha, born 11 September 1761.
Johann Adam Heckmann, a farmer, and his family (wife & 5 children) immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) arriving in Flensburg on 19 June 1762.
While in the Danish colonies, Hans Adam & Anna Margaretha had a another daughter Rosina Margaretha, born 8 May 1764 in Gross Solt, Denmark. Daughter Anna Margaretha [child No. 9 above] died on 21 February 1764 in Gross Solt.
They joined the migration to Russia and settled in the Volga German colony of Balzer on 28 March 1766.

Johannes Heckmann and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Balzer in Household No. 183 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Rosenberg in 1853. They are recorded on the 1857 census of Rosenberg in Household No. 89.
The 1767 census records that Adam Heckmann came from the German region of Kurpfalz. The Eichhorns record that Johann Adam Heckmann came from the German region of Württemberg.
