Discussion & Documentation:

Johannes Heitzenröder, son of Georg Heitzenröder and Anna Müller, was born 11 October 1722 in Gersfeld. He married Anna Katharina Heun on 18 Nov 1751.

Johann[es] Heitzenreder, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and children (Elisabeth, age 14; Barbara, age 12; Johann, age 9; Peter, age 7; Peter [again], age 5; Andreas, age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of skipper Reders.

Johannes Haytzenrather [sic], his wife Cathrina, and children (Elisabeth, age 14; Barbara, age 12; Johannes, age 10; Peter, age 6; Peter [again], age 5; Andreas, age 3) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that father Johannes and youngest son Peter died en route.

Widow Anna Katharina remarried to Johann Georg Zitzmann who had been on the same ship from Lübeck with the Heitzenröder family.

The combined Zitzmann / Heitzenröder family settled in the Volga German colony of Frank on 1 September 1767.  They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 110.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann[es] Heitzenreder came from the German village of Gersfeld.
