Herrmann (Hussenbach)

There are two Hermann families that settled in the Volga German colony of Hussenbach. They arrived together from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Johann Hermann Anderson.

(1) Johann [Heinrich] Hermann and his wife Anna [Barbara] arrived in Oranienbaum.

Joh. Heinr. Hermann, his wife Barbara, and daughter Anna Barbara (age ½) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that daughter Anna Barbara died en route.

They are recorded in Hussenbach on the 1798 census in Household No. Hs012.

(2) Valentin Hermann, his wife Anna Maria, and children (Johann, age 13; Valentin, age 10; Anna, age 9; Angelina, age 6; Friedrich, age 3; Barbara, age ¼) arrived in Oranienbaum.

Widow Anna Maria Hermann and her children (Johann Heinrich, age 14; Valentin, age 12; Anna Margaretha, age 9; Angelica, age 7; Friedrich, age 3) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Widow and children settled in Hussenbach where they are recorded on the 1798 census in Households No. Hs001, Hs006, Hs059, & Hs123.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that both of these Hermann families came from the German region of Darmstadt.
