Jacob Herzog, son of Paul & Anna Margaretha Herzog of Schopp, was baptized 14 September 1723 in Waldfischbach. He married there on 25 April 1752 to Anna Margaretha Meÿer, daughter of Julius & Anna Barbara Meÿer of Schmalenberg. She had been born in Schmalenberg on 19 October 1732 and baptized in Waldfischbach on 22 October 1732.

The baptisms of six children born in Schmalenberg to Jacob Herzog and Anna Margaretha Meÿer are recorded in the parish register of Waldfischbach: (1) Johann Jacob, baptized 25 March 1753; (2) Anna Catharina, born 24 June 1755, baptized 29 June 1755; (3) Leonhard, born 25 September 1757, baptized 2 October 1757; (4) Anna Elisabetha, born 22 January 1760, baptized 27 January 1760; (5) Johann Peter, born 25 December 1761, baptized 26 December 1761; and (6) Johann Heinrich, born 13 April 1764, baptized 15 April 1764.

Jakob Herzog, a farmer, his wife Anna Margaretha, and children (Johann Jakob, age 15; Anna Katharina, age 13; Leonhard, age 11; Elisabeth, age 9; Johann Peter, age 7; Johann Heinrich, age 3; Jakobina, age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Balzer in Household No. 16. They had settled there on 26 November 1765.

In 1788, Leonhard Herzog and his family moved from Balzer to Reinwald.

In 1788, Peter Herzog moved from Norka to Schulz. The 1798 census of Schulz records Peter Herzog from Norka in Household No. Sz24.

Heinrich Herzog and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Kutter in Household No. Kt18.

The death of Heinrich Herzog in 1826 is recorded on the 1834 census of Kutter in Household No. 70.

The 1767 census records that Jakob Herzog came from the German region of Kurpfalz.
