Discussion & Documentation:

Johann Velten Kaiser, son of Jacob & Margaretha Kaiser, was born in Ilbeshausen in June 1738. On 26 February 1762, he married Barbara Klippert, daughter of Sebastian Klippert from the neighboring village of Grebenhain.

The births of two children to Johann Velten & Barbara Kaiser are recorded in Ilbeshausen: (1) Johannes, born 20 February 1762, baptized 21 February 1762; and (2) Anna Catharina, born 27 June 1765, baptized 28 June 1765.

Johann Valentin Kaiser, a farmer, his wife Anna Barbara, and children (Johann, age 8; Katharina, age 4) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 July 1766 aboard the Apollo under the command of Skipper Friedrich Detloff Mörenberg.

Johann Valentin Kaiser, his wife Barbara, and daughter (Elisabeth Eva Katharina, age 1-month) are recorded there on the 1767 census of Grimm in Household No. 46.

The 1775 census of Grimm records the family of Ludwig Kaiser in Household No. 45, and this family is believed to be the same as that of Valentin Kaiser.

The 1798 census of Bauer records the widow of Johann Michael Kaiser from Grimm and his children in Household No. Br08.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Johann Valentin Kaiser came from the German region of Darmstadt.
