Karl Kemp was born in approximately 1786 in Köslin.
He served as a corporal in the 2nd Prussian Hussar Regiment of Napoleon's Army. He fought against and was captured by the Russians.
Milovidov records that as of 1814, his father, mother, two brothers, and a sister were still living in Köslin.
In 1814, he was settled in the Volga German colony of Schilling. He relocated to the colony of Grimm and is recorded there on the 1834 census of Grimm in Household No. 311.
He does not appear on the 1857 census of Grimm, so must have died there before 1850.
Milovidov records that Karl Kemp came from the German village of Köslin in the region of Prussia where he had been a miller.
