There are two Kippes families that arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 July 1766 aboard the ship Apollo under the command of Detlov Merberg. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.
(1) Adam [sic] Kippes, a farmer, his wife Anna Katharina, children (Elisabeth, age 3; Barbara, age ½), and brother Daniel (age 18) arrived in Oranienbaum.
Anton [sic] Kippes, his wife Katharina, and brother Daniel settled in the Volga German colony of Pfeifer on 20 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 56.
Daniel Kippes is recorded on the 1798 census of Pfeifer in Household No. Pf84.
Johannes Kippes from Pfeifer and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Marienfeld.
(2) Nikolaus Kippes, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria, and daughters (Eva, age 15; Barbara, age 13; Agness, age 10½; Margaretha, age 5) arrived in Oranienbaum.
Daughters Eva & Barbara are believed to be recorded on the 1767 census of Brabander in Household No. 6 along with Jakob Pemsel and his family.
Barbara Kippes is recorded on the 1798 census of Brabander in Household No. Bn28.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that both Adam [sic] Kippes and Nikolaus Kippes came from the German region of Franken (Franconia). The 1767 census records that Anton [sic] Kippes came from the German region of Würzburg.
