There are multiple lineages of the Klein family that settled in Frank.  They are related via common ancestors Johann Friedrich Klein and Anna Margaretha Klüppel of Södel.

Johannes Klein and Maria Elisabeth Mohr married in Nieder-Wöllstadt on 29 April 1732.  Among their children are: (1) Johann Heinrich, born 10 June 1742; (2) Johann Adam, born 16 June 1745; (3) Johannes, born 8 May 1748; and (4) Johann Georg, born 14 May 1754. 

(1) Johann Henrich Klein from Niederwölstadt & Anna Maria Bingemer from Rendel were married on 5 June 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen. [See Bingemer Family.]

Johann Heinrich Klein, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria, and son [brother - #4 below?] Johann Georg (age 14) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 July 1766 aboard the ship Apollo under the command of Skipper Friedrich Detloff Mörenberg.

Johann Heinrich Klein, his wife Anna, and son Johann Georg (age 16) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Johann Heinrich Klein, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Anna Maria are recorded on the 1767 census of Frank in Household No. 79.

Maria Klein, widow of [Johann] Heinrich Klein, and her children are recorded on the 1798 census of Frank in Household No. Fk075.

The death of Martin Klein, son of Heinrich Klein, in 1831 is recorded on the 1834 census of Frank in Household No. 16.

The death of Kaspar Klein, son of Martin Klein, in 1838 is recorded on the 1850 census of Frank in Household No. 290.

Heinrich Klein, son of Kaspar Klein, and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Frank in Household No. 290. They are also recorded on the 1857 census of Langenfeld.

(2) Johann Adam Klein from Niederwölstadt & Anna Maria Fischer from Müntzenberg were married on 5 June 1766 in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen.

Adam Klein, a farmer, his wife Anna, and mother-in-law Anna [surname not recorded] arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Reders.

Johann Adam Klein, his wife Anna Maria, and mother-in-law Anna Elisab. are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Anna Elisab. died en route.

Johann Adam, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Anna Maria, and daughter Eva Maria (age ¼) are recorded on the 1767 census of Frank in Household No. 81.

(3) Johann Heinrich Klein, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria, and son [brother?] Johann Georg (age 14) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 July 1766 aboard the ship Apollo under the command of Skipper Friedrich Detloff Mörenberg.

Johann Klein is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Johannes Klein, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Katharina are recorded on the 1767 census of Frank in Household No. 82.

(4) Johann Georg Klein, a single craftsman (Handwerker), is recorded on the 1767 census of Frank in Household No. 80 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Kutter in 1768.

The 1767 census records that all of these Klein families came from the German village of Niederwöllstadt.

Some records record this surname as Kleim.
