Laube
Johann Laube, a hunter (Jäger), and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the Danish galliot Nord Stern under the command of Skipper Detlev Belling.
Johann Laube, his wife Anna Luisa, and children (Johann Fridrich, age 3; Johann Adam, born en route) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that the mother Anna Luisa and new-born son Johann Adam had died en route.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Lauwe on 19 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 1 along with a note that Johann was serving as the colony's mayor (Vorsteher). It is after him that the colony received its German name.
In 1788, Johann Friedrich Laube moved from Lauwe to Stahl am Tarlyk.
Johann Friedrich Laube from Lauwe and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Stahl am Tarlyk in Household No. St18.
The death of Johann Friedrich Laube in 1827 is recorded on the 1834 census of Stahl am Tarlyk in Household No. 81.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Lauwe came from the German region of Prussia while the 1767 census records that he came from the village of Braunschweig.
