Discussion & Documentation:

There are two Müller families from Langendiebach who traveled together and settled in the Volga German colony of Kutter. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Johann Jacob Müller, son of Georg Müller, was baptized in Langendiebach on 28 January 1714.

Gertraud Emmerich, daughter of Elias & Susanna Emmerich, was baptized on 17 March 1720 in Langendiebach.

Johann Jacob Müller married in Langendiebach on 17 March 1745 to Gertraud Emmerich.

There are eight children, each born in Langendiebach, whose baptisms are recorded in the parish register of Langendiebach: (1) Johann Conrad, born 2 June 1746, baptized 5 June 1746, died 5 September 1746; (2) Anna Margareatha, born 16 June 1747, baptized 18 June 1747, died 10 July 1747; (3) Gertraud, born 6 August 1748, baptized 12 August 1748; (4) Maria Catharina, born 11 June 1750, baptized 14 June 1750; (5) Jost, born 12 August 1752, baptized 13 August 1752; (6) Christoffel, born 15 August 1755, baptized 17 August 1755; (7) Caspar, born 1 December 1759, baptized 4 December 1759, died 9 February 1761; and (8) Johannes, born & baptized 5 August 1764, died 18 August 1764.

Gertraud Müller née Emmerich died in Langendiebach on 18 August 1764.

Widower Johann Jakob Müller, a farmer, and his children (Gertrude, age 19; Katharina, age 17¼; Jost, age 14; Christoph, age 11) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.

Johann Jakob Müller died in Russia. His surviving children (Katharina, age 17½; Christoph, age 13) are recorded on the 1767 census of Kutter in Household No. 32 along with Georg Friedrich Müller. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between these two Müller families.

Christoph Müller and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Messer in Household No. Ms42.

The death of Christoph Müller in 1829 is recorded on the 1834 census of Messer in Household No. 62.

(2) Johannes Müller, son of Andreas & Anna Catharina Müller, was born 28 September 1731 and baptized 30 September 1731 in Rückingen. Johannes married Anna Elisabetha Kaiser, daughter of Johann Kaiser, on 8 June 1760 in Langendiebach.

The baptisms of four children of their children are recorded in the Langendiebach parish register: (1) Thomas, born 24 March 1761, baptized 29 March 1761; (2) Eva Elisabeth, born 7 November 1762, baptized 10 November 1762; (3) Heinrich, born 5 August 1764, baptized 9 August 1764; and (4) Johannes, born 17 March 1766, baptized 21 March 1766.

Johann[es] Müller, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Thomas, age 7; Eva, age 4; Heinrich, age 2; Johann, age ¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Kutter on 8 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 36.

Elisabeth Müller, the widow of Johannes Müller, and her family are recorded on the 1798 census of Kutter in Household No. Kt64.

Son Johannes Müller is recorded on the 1798 census of Kutter in Household no. Kt71.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that both of these Müller families came from the German region of Isenburg.
