Simon Meier, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and son Georg (age ½) are recorded on the 1767 census of Mariental in Household No. 68. They had arrived in Mariental on 14 June 1766.
In 1795, Peter Meier moved from Mariental to Graf. In 1798, widower Simon Meier moved from Mariental to Stahl am Tarlyk.
The 1767 census records that Simon Meier came from the German village of Straubing in Bayern (Bavaria).
