Joachim Papp, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Stahl am Tarlyk on 13 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 15.

In 1790, August Papp moved from Dinkel to Stahl am Tarlyk.

The death in 1831 of August Papp is recorded on the 1834 census of Stahl am Tarlyk in Household No. 105.

The 1767 census records that Joachim Papp came from the German village of Bentwisch in the Mechlenburg region.
