Randa
Jean [Johann] Rande was born in approximately 1786, possibly in France. He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians. He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled among the Volga German colonies.
He and two sons are recorded on the 1834 Urbach Census in Household No. 62. They are recorded on the 1850 Urbach Census in Household No. 100 with his death noted there in 1849.
His descendants relocated to the daughter colony of Friedental in 1850, and when Friedental was abandoned in the 1860s, the family relocated to the daughter colony of Liebental.
Descendants of this family in the United States generally use the spelling of Randa for this surname.
