Philipp Rudel, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and sons (Johann, age 6; Jost, age 2) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.
Orphan Johann Georg Rudel (age 6), son of the deceased Philipp Rudel, is recorded on the 1767 census of Kutter in Household No. 1 along with the Christoph Brenning family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Ruhl and Brenning families.
In 1788, Georg Rudel and his family moved from Kutter to Laub.

The descendants of Georg Rudel are recorded on the 1834 census of Laub in Households No. 63 & 105.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Philipp Rudel came from the German region of Isenburg.
