Johann Heinrich Schäfer, son of Johann Peter Schäfer, and Catharina Neeb, daughter of Johannes Neeb, were married in Kestrich on 25 July 1726.  Among their children born in Kestrich is Johann Martin Schäfer, born 6 January 1746, baptized 9 January 1746.

Johann Martin Schäfer married in the Lutheran Church of Büdingen on 24 February 1766 to Anna Margaretha Diehl (Tiehll/Thiel) from the village of Höchst, Wetterau.

Martin Schäfer, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 30 May 1766 aboard the pink Novaya Dvinka under the command of Lieutenant Ivan Perepechin.
