Schlotthauer (Kraft)

Heinrich Schlotthauer, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the barque named Fortitudo under the command of Skipper John Scott. The family at this time consisted of father Heinrich and mother Elisabeth along with children Johann Heinrich (age 20), Johann (age 18), Johannes (age 14), Christoph (age 11), and Christina (age 8).

Heinrich died after arrival in Russia. His widow and children settled in the Volga German colony of Kraft on 18 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Households No. 8 & 9. Those recorded there are mother Anna Elisabeth (age 43), Johann Heinrich (age 21), Johann (age 18), Johannes (age 16), Christoph (age 13), and Christina (age 9).

The 1798 census of Dobrinka records Johannes Schlotthauer (age 45) and his family in Household No. Db49.

Georg Adam Schlotthauer and his sons are recorded on the 1857 census of Dobrinka in Household No. 145 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Rosenberg in 1852.

Heinrich Schlotthauer from Kraft is recorded on the 1834 census of Galka in Household No. 92.

Heinrich Schlotthauer and his family are recorded on the 1850 census of Galka in Household No. 119.

Heinrich Schlotthauer and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Galka in Household No. 120.

Descendants of Heinrich Schlotthauer from Galka relocated to the daughter colony of Morgentau.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that father Heinrich Schlotthauer came from the German region of Riedesel. The 1767 census records that sons Johann Heinrich & Johannes Schlotthauer came from the German village of Alsfeld.

Research by Manfred Steinberger reveals that Heinrich Schlotthauer married Anna Elisabeth Mönker of Reichlos and that their children were born in the German village of Metzlos.
