Johann Schmidt, a weaver his wife Maria, and children (Peter, age 11; Ludwig, age 7; Johannes, age ¾) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard an English frigate under the command of Skipper Adam Beerfeier.

Joh. Jost Schmied [sic], his wife Maria Elisabetha, and sons (Joh. Peter, age 11; Ludwig, age 7; Johannes, age 1) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Peter Schmidt and his brothers, Johann Ludwig and Johannes, are recorded on the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 46 along with their stepfather Friedrich Salorkube?. They had settled in Nieder-Monjou on 3 August 1767.

Ludwig Schmidt and his brother Johannes Schmidt are recorded on the 1798 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. Nm16.

Ludwig Schmidt and his brother Johannes Schmidt are recorded on the 1811 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 16 along with a note that Johannes Schmidt relocated to the colony of Fischer.

Johann[es] Schmidt from Nieder-Monjou is recorded on the 1811 census of Fischer in Household No. 41.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that this Schmidt family came from the German district of Darmstadt.
