Johannes Schneider, a farmer, and his family (including stepchildren whose surnames are not recorded) settled in the Volga German colony of Degott on 18 July 1766.

They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 13.

In 1789, Friedrich Schneider moved from Degott to Rothammel.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Schneider came from the German district of Kaiserslautern in the Kurpfalz.
