Johann Leonhard Schneider, a farmer, and Anna Maria [maiden name not recorded] immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) where their marriage is recorded in Thorning on 30 May 1760. They arrived in the city of Schleswig on 9 May 1761.

On 27 June 1764, they deserted the Danish colony and joined the migration to Russia.

Johann Michel Schneÿder, son of Leonhard Schneÿder & Anna Maria Mirckler, was baptized on 15 August 1764 in St. Peter Lutheran Church of Lübeck.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Dobrinka on 15 April 1765. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 51 along with his new wife, Katharina Reichenbacher, sister-in-law of Christoph Maier and widow of Johann Christoph Ehrlich, and her son Johann [Friedrich] Ehrlich (age 10).

The 1798 census of Schwab records Johann Michael Schneider, presumed son of Johann Leonhard Schneider, from Dobrinka in Household No. Sb41.

The 1767 census records that Johann Leonhard Schneider came from the German village of Kelzhaus [?] in the Kurpfalz region.
