Michael Schneider, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 11 June 1766 aboard a snow-brig named Der Jäger (The Hunter) under the command of Skipper Gabriel Will.
Michel Schneider is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They arrived in the Volga German colony of Laub on 12 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 11 along with daughter Anna Katharina (age 1).
In 1789, Johann Jakob Schneider moved from Laub to Dinkel.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Michael Schneider came from the German region of the Pfalz. The 1767 census records that Johann Michael Schneider came from the German village of Bubenheim in the Pfalz region.
