Schreiber (Schilling)
Johann Andreas Schreiber, son of Georg Caspar Schreiber & Agnes Glösser, was born on 2 November 1725 and baptized on 4 November 1725 in the Evangelical Church of Nieder-Florstadt, about 26 kilometers northeast of Frankfurt. He married Anna Maria Schreitz, daughter of Conrad Schreitz, on 8 January 1752 in the same church.
They had four known children, each baptized in Nieder-Florstadt: (1) Johann Heinrich, on 31 May 1753; (2) Maria Margaretha, on 14 November 1755; (3) Andreas, on 29 July 1758; and (4) Johann Conrad, on 18 December 1764.
[Johann] Andreas Schreiber, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
The Schreibers are recorded on the 1775 census of the Volga German colony of Schilling where widower Andreas is recorded in Household No. 65 along with 3 sons (Andreas, age 16; Konrad, age 10½; Adam Brosius [Ambrosius?], age 5½). Older son Heinrich is recorded in Household No. 31 along with his wife Maria Elisabeth and Zander stepchildren (Johann Michael, age 11½; Anna Maria, age 9; Katharina Margaretha, age 7; Anna Elisabeth, age 4).
The 1798 Census of Schilling records the family in Households No. Sg68, Sg32, and Sg89.
