Georg Jacob Seiler, son of Johann Conrad & Maria Agnes Seiler, was baptized 14 August 1734 in Bretten. He married in Bretten on 31 January 1758 to Maria Barbara Leonhardt, daughter of Georg Leonhardt.
The baptism of three of their children are recorded in Bretten: (1) Justina Barbara, baptized 15 August 1758; (2) Georg Peter, baptized 23 March 1760; and (3) Johann Leonhard, baptized 30 January 1762.
Georg Jakob Seiler, a farmer and dyer (Färber), his wife Barbara, and children (Justina Barbara, age 7; Georg Peter, age 5; Johann Leonard, age 3½; Anna Maria, age 3-weeks) immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) arriving in Flensburg on 24 Juy 1762. They are last recorded among the Danish colonies in October 1766.
While living in Denmark, the baptism of two additional children were recorded: (1) Catharina Barbara, baptized 13 March 1763 in Hurup, Denmark, died 22 March 1763; and (2) Anna Maria, baptized 2 July 1765 in Handewitt, Denmark.
They joined the migration to Russia and settled in the Volga German colony of Laub on 5 September 1767.
Georg Jakob Seiler, his wife Barbara, and children (Justina Barbara, age 11; Georg Peter, age 7) are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 39.
The Eichhorns record that Georg Jakob Seiler came from the German region of Kurpfalz. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Serapen in the Kurpfalz region.
