Discussion & Documentation

Thomas Weigele [sic] and Barbara Bergel were married on 12 October 1765 in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lübeck.

Thomas Weigel, a barber (Friseur), his wife Barbara, and daughter Maria Magdalena (age ¾) are recorded on the 1767 census of Herzog in Household No. 27. They had settled there on 14 July 1766.

In 1794, Joseph Weigel moved from Herzog to Mariental.

The 1767 census records that Thomas Weigel came from the German village of Passau in the Ansbach region and that his wife Barbara came from the German village of Erlangen in the Bayreuth region.
