Mai / Maÿ (Norka)*

The baptism of Johann Heinrich Maÿ, son of Sebastian Maÿ from Rothenbergen, is recorded in the Gründau parish register on 6 February 1729.  Catharina Daubert, daughter of Conrad Daubert from Mittelgründau, was baptized on 21 March 1734.  Johann Heinrich and Catharina married in Rothenbergen 31 July 1755. The Gründau parish baptismal register records four of their children, each born in Rothenbergen: (1) Johannes, born 24 August 1757; (2) Elisabetha, born 10 February 1760; (3) Anna Catharina, born 6 May 1762; and (4) Hartmann, born 30 December 1765.

Mohr (Yagodnaya Polyana)

There are two Mohr families recorded in the Volga German colony of Yagodnaya Polyana. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Johann Konrad Mohr, a farmer, and his wife Agnetta Christina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the snow-brig Die Frau Dietrika under the command of Skipper Joachim Friedrich Luhn.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Yagodnaya Polyana on 16 September 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 61.

Benner (Yagodnaya Polyana)

Johann Benner, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard the galliot Die Perle under the command of Skipper Thomson.

Johannes Penner [sic] is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Yagodnaya Polyana on 16 September 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 5 along with his new wife Katharina.

Schneider (Yagodnaya Polyana-2)

Johann Konrad Schneider and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Yagodnaya Polyana in Household No. 16 September 1767.  They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 76.

Konrad Schneider and Georg Schneider from Yagodnaya Polyana and their families are recorded on the 1857 census of Neu-Yagodnaya-Polyana.

The census records that they came from the German village of Lißberg.

Schneider (Yagodnaya Polyana-1)*

Johann Heinrich Schneider and his wife, Susanna, and their daughters (Katharina, age 22; Anna Maria, age 20) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 13 September 1766 aboard the galliot Die Perle under the command of Skipper Thomson.

Johann Henrich Schneider, his wife Susanna, and daughters (Cathrina, age 23; Anna Maria, age 21) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Stuckart (Yagodnaya Polyana)

[Johann] Peter Stuckart, his wife Anna, and [step-]son Johann [Merkel] (age 17) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 14 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Reders.

Peter Stuckard [sic], his wife Maria Dorothea, and stepson Friedrich Merckel [sic] (age 17) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Konschu(h)

Conrad Wilhelm Kontschuch, son of Augustini Kontschuch, was born in Ortenberg (near Büdingen) on 20 February 1707. He married Anna Elisabeth Wendel, daughter of Johann Conrad Wendel, on 30 November 1730. They had one daughter: Anna Elisabeth, who died on 7 March 1738. Conrad Wilhelm then married Anna Barbara Blum, daughter of Johannes Blum, on 4 September 1738. They had three children: (1) Georg Christoph, born 6 January 1740; (2) Johann Daniel, born 23 May 1742; and (3) Anna Margaretha, born 15 January 1745.

Asmus (Walter / Yagodnaya Polyana)

There are two Asmus families from Wallernhausen that settled in the Volga German colonies. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Conrad Asmus, son of Heinrich Aßmuß & Barbara Elisabetha Jung (who had been married 28 November 1709 in Wallerhausen), married in Wallernhausen on 30 November 1739 to Anna Maria Stang, daughter of Conrad Stang & Elisabetha Nohl (who had been married on 4 July 1710 in Wallernhausen).
