Sulzfeld was first mentioned in a document in the Hirsau Codex in 1075. The history of Sulzfeld is closely linked to the family of the Barons Göler von Ravensburg who began construction around 1200.

After the defeat of the Protestants in the Schmalkaldic War (1546-47), Spanish mercenaries devastated the village.

Sulzfeld was also destroyed several times during the Thirty Years' War.

Bernhard Göler von Ravensburg introduced the Reformation in Sulzfeld in 1522.

From 1742 to 1806, Villingen was under the control of the Principality of Solms-Braunfels. In 1806, it became part of Hessen. Today, Villingen is administratively part of the municipality of Hungen about 70 kilometers north-northeast of Frankfurt am Main.

A number of Volga German families came from the German village of Wächtersbach. Most of them settled in the colony of Huck.

Church:

The western part of the nave constructed in the hall style date from the Gothic period of the 14th century. The tower was added in 1514. It probably also served as a defensive tower for the village.

Since 1264, Wald-Michelbach was part of the Electorate of Palatinate (German = Kurpfalz). When the Kurpfalz was dissolved in 1803, it became part of Hessen.
