Sulzfeld, Kr. Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg

Sulzfeld was first mentioned in a document in the Hirsau Codex in 1075. The history of Sulzfeld is closely linked to the family of the Barons Göler von Ravensburg who began construction around 1200.

After the defeat of the Protestants in the Schmalkaldic War (1546-47), Spanish mercenaries devastated the village.

Sulzfeld was also destroyed several times during the Thirty Years' War.

Hauptstraße 50

Bernhard Göler von Ravensburg introduced the Reformation in Sulzfeld in 1522.

The Protestant church that is located today in Sulzfeld was built in 1885-86.

The basement of the tower dates to the middle of the 15th century. The north, south, and east walls hold windows that also date from the 15th century.

The oldest bell in the tower dates to 1808.

The roof, organ, and pulpit were seriously damaged in a fire caused by lightning in 1755. Following more than a century of reconstruction following the plans of the Karlsruhe church building officer Ludwig Diemer, the neo-Romanesque style church was consecrated on 26 September 1886. An extensive interior renovation was carried out in 2011 to mark the church's 125th anniversary.
