Gärtner (Seelmann)*

Martin Gärtner, a farmer, and his wife Maria Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Seelmann on 15 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 71.

The 1767 census records that Martin Gärtner came from the German village of Hoffen in the Kurmainz region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Gärtner family among the Volga German colonies.

Fasching

Michael Faschin, son of Johann Franz Faschin & Magdalena Weintraut, was born 18 November 1733 in Sulzdorf.  He married on 16 July 1754 in Gaukönigshofen to Margaretha Oth, daughter of Christoph Oth & Ottilia Habermann. She had been born 3 September 1723 in Gaukönigshofen, southwest of Sulzdorf.

The births of 4 of their children are recorded on the parish register of Gaukönigshofen: (1) Johann Franz, born 13 January 1756; (2) Maria Barbara, born 9 June 1758; (3) Johann Martin, born 24 November 1759; and (4) Johann Georg, born 11 March 1762, died 21 May 1762.

Erb (Seelmann)*

Ludwig Erb, a farmer, his wife Sophia, and foster daughter (Pflegetochter) Barbara (age 16) [surname not recorded] are recorded on the 1767 census of Seelmann in Household No. 40. They had settled there on 24 August 1767.

The 1767 census records that Ludwig Erb came from the German village of Höfen in the Bamberg region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Erb family among the Volga German colonies.

Bemler*

Helena Regina Bemler and her unnamed husband settled in the Volga German colony of Seelmann on 16 August 1767. Helena Regina is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 81 along with a note that her husband had died 15 October 1767.

The 1767 census records that Helena Regina Bemler came from the German region of Reutlingen.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Wolffanger (Seelmann-2)*

Maria Katharina Wolffanger and her unnamed husband settled in the Volga German colony of Seelmann on 15 July 1767. She is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 87 along with a note that her husband had died 28 August 1767.

The 1767 census records that Maria Katharina Wolffanger came from the German village of Stuttgart in the Württemberg region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.

Wolffanger (Seelmann-1)*

Johann Wolffanger, a rope maker, his wife Maria Elisabeth, daughter Elisabeth (age 12), and [step]daughter Anna Maria [surname not recorded] (age 9) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Adler under the command of Skipper Paul Adam Drath.

Bäcker / Becker (Wittmann)

Johann Becker and his wife Christina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Franz Nikolaus Schröder.

Johann Becker and his wife Catharina [sic] are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Catharina died en route.

Widower Johann[es] Becker, a weaver (Weber), is recorded on an appendix to the 1767 census of Beauregard in Household No. 74 along with a note that he relocated to the colony of Wittmann in 1768.
