Samsfort
Herrmann Samsfort was born in approximately 1787. He served in Napoleon's army and fought against the Russians.
He was captured by the Russians, and in 1812, was settled in the Volga German colony of Louis.
The parish register of Mariental records his marriage on 14 January 1819 to Sophia Wasinger from Graf. On the marriage register he is described as a soldier from Amsterdam in Holland [The Netherlands].
He is recorded on the 1834 Census of Louis in Household No. 116 along with a note that he had died in 1833.
François*
Jean François was born in approximately 1778.
He served as a soldier in the 85th Infantry Regiment of Napoleon's Army. He fought against the Russians and was captured.
In 1814, he was settled in the Volga German colony of Louis.
Milovidov records that as of 1814 his father, two brothers, and two sisters were still living in Selenaem [?].
He is recorded on the 1834 census of Louis in Household No. 119 along with a note that he had died in 1822.
Anton*
Martin Anton, a stonemason, his wife Rosina, and son Michael (age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.
Martin Anthon, his wife Anna Maria, and son Michael (age 1½) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
It is not known in which colony the Anton family settled.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Martin Anton came from the German region of Pommern.
Werner (Did Not Arrive-2)*
Ludwig Werner, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.
Ludewig Werner is recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that he died en route.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Ludwig Werner came from the German region of Wegensburg [?].
There are no known surviving male lines of this Werner family among the Volga German colonies.
