Discussion & Documentation

Johann Michael Eichmann was born about 1743 in Breitenbrunn, southeast of Höchst im Odenwald. He married in Büdingen to Anna Barbara Völker on 30 June 1766, the same day that his presumed sister married Johann Nikolaus Dorsch.

Johann Michael Eichmann, a farmer, and his wife Anna Barbara arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Frau Diederika (Lady Diederika) under the command of Skipper Johann Joachim Lunau.

The parish register of Schilling records the birth of Susanna Margaretha Eichmann, daughter of Johann Michael Eichmann & Anna Barbara Völcker, on 31 March 1767 in Kolomna while en route to the colonies.

Johann Michael Eichmann (age 24), a farmer, his wife Anna Barbara (age 26), and daughter Susanna Margaretha (age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Schwab in Household No. 35. They had arrived in Schwab on 12 September 1767.

On the 1798 census of Schwab, Johann Michael's widow is recorded in Household No. Sb29. Daughter Susanna is recorded at Household No. Sb14 and other siblings are at Households No. Sb16 & Sb21.

Johann Peter Eichmann from Schwab and his family are recorded on the 1857 census of Friedenberg.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Michael Eichmann came from the German region of Erbach.
