Gladbach, Kr. Rheingau-Taunus, Hessen

A pair of Gladbach villages (Niedergladbach and Obergladbach), as part of the Merlau Treaty in 1583, were exchanged for two village in the Pfalz. This exchange left the Gladbach villages in the territory of the Electorate of Mainz (Kurmainz). In 1972, these villages were merged administratively with others into the community of Schlangenbad.
