Depperschmidt

Conrad Michael Döppenschmitt [sic], son of Johannes Jacob Döppenschmitt & Anna Maria Geiger, was baptized 2 November 1732 in St. Martin's Catholic Church in Orb. He married there on 17 February 1756 to Maria Eva Dehmer, daughter of Johannes Dehmer & Catharina Ihl. Maria Eva Dehmer had been baptized 26 July 1735, also at St. Martin's in Orb.

The births/baptisms of the following children born to Conrad Michael Döppenschmitt & Maria Eva Dehmer are recorded in the parish register of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Orb: (1) Margaretha, baptized 11 May 1754; (2) Johann Jacob, baptized 1 March 1757; (3) Anna Maria, baptized 4 May 1760; (4) unnamed child, baptized 9 August 1763, died 9 August 1763; (5) Johann Jacob, baptized 6 August 1764; and (6) Anna Maria, baptized 31 August 1766.

Michael Depperschmidt, a farmer, his wife Eva, and children (Heinrich, age 10; Margaretha, age 6) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

Michael Tobschmied [sic], his wife Eva, and children (Heinrich, age 11¼; Margaretha, age 6; Maria, age ½) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Michael Depperschmidt, his wife Eva, and children (Heinrich, age 11; Maria, age 7; Margaretha, age 1) are recorded in 1767 on a list of Beauregard recruits in Household No. 54.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Zug where Michael Depperschmidt is recorded on the 1798 census in Household No. Zg25.

Theobald Depperschmidt from Zug and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Schönchen in Household No. 36.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Michael Depperschmidt came from the German region of Mainz, The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Orb.
