Johannes Schilling, son of Christoph Schilling & Maria Barbara Haas, was baptized on 11 July 1720 in Stetten am Heuchelberg.

The baptisms of 8 children born to Johannes & Magdalena Schilling are recorded in the parish register of Niederhofen: (1) Eva Barbara, born 16 March 1746, baptized 17 March 1746; (2) Christina Margaretha, baptized 8 April 1748; (3) Johannes, born 21 July 1751, baptized 22 July 1751; (4) Johannes [again], born 10 February 1753, baptized 11 February 1753, died 13 January 1757; (5) Marie Agnes, born and baptized 2 February 1755; (6) Dorothea, born 14 October 1756, baptized 15 October 1756; (7) Magdalena, born 25 June 1758, baptized 26 June 1758; and (8) Elisabetha, born and baptized 20 April 1760, died 5 May 1760.

Johannes, a weaver (Leinweber), his wife Maria Magdalena, and their children (Eva Barbara, age 15; Christina Margaretha, 13; Maria Agnesa, age 6; Dorothea, age 5; Magdalena, age 3; Johann Friedrich, age ½) along with their maid (Magd) Elisabeth Merkel immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein).

They arrived in the city of Schleswig on 6 June 1761. They are last recorded in the Danish colonies on 26 April 1763.

They joined the migration to Russia and are recorded on the 1775 census of Schilling in Household No. 30.

In 1788, Friedrich Schilling moved from Dönhof to Schilling.

The Eichhorns record that Johannes Schilling came from the German village of Niederhofen, Amt Brackenheim in the region of Württemberg.
