Johann Adolph Karlin, his wife Henrietta, and his sons (Adolph, age 5; Franciscus, age 3; Antonius, age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 May 1766 aboard the galliot Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Daniel Geier.
Johann Karlin, an innkeeper (Gastwirt), and his wife Henrietta, are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 102. They had arrived in Katharinenstadt on 5 March 1767.
Recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register in Household No. 113:
Peter Winschu [sic] (age 41), a cloth maker (Zeugmacher)
His wife Herika [sic] v. Bromel (age 39), widow of Carolin [sic]
sons: Gottfried (age 18); Johann (age 15); Christ. Friedr. (born 30 January 1777)
daughters: Maria Elisab. (age 16); Maria (age 5)
stepsons: Friedrich Carolin [sic] (age 8); Michael Carolin [sic] (age 4)
Michael Karlin, son of the deceased Adolph Karlin, and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. Ka055.
The death of Michael Karlin in 1818 is recorded on the 1834 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 75.
The 1767 census records that Johann Karlin came from the town of Amsterdam in Holland. The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records that Herika [sic] v. Bromel, widow of Carolin [sic], came from the town of Armeiden [sic] in Holland [The Netherlands].
