Hempel

Two Hempel family settled in Norka. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Georg Hempel, a farmer, his wife Anna [Katharina], and children (Anna [Maria], age 16; [Anna] Gertrude, age 13; Johann [Peter], age 6; Elisabeth, age 5; August[a Magdalena], age ¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766.

Widow Katharina and the children settled in the Volga German colony of Huck on 1 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 34.

Streck (Walter)

Johannes Streck, son of Johannes Streck & Elisabeth Limpert, was born 5 April 1733 in Gersfeld. He married on 11 May 1756 to Maria Elisabeth Klüber, daughter of tailor Johannes Klüber. She had been born 22 September 1739 in Gersfeld.

The births of three children born to Johannes Streck & Maria Elisabeth Klüber are recorded in the parish register of Gersfeld: (1) Johannes, born 7 June 1760; (2) Margaretha, born 12 December 1762; and (3) Johann Georg, born 23 January 1765.

Stellwagen (Kolb & Moor)*

The descendants of three Stellwagen families from the German village of Sprendlingen immigrated to Russia. Their relationship to each other, if any, requires additional research.

They all arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 June 1766 aboard the ship Die Perle under the command of Skipper Thomson.

(1) Susanna Elisabetha Stellwagen, illegitimate daughter of Johannes & Maria Veronica Stellwagen, was born 13 January 1752 in Sprendlingen.

Maria Veronica and Susanna Elisabetha immigrated to Russia.

Rockel / Rogel

Johann Valentin Rockel married Anna Barbara Berk. She had been bor 30 October 1727 in Lauterbach.

The baptisms of the children of Johann Valentin Rockel & Anna Barbara Berk are recorded in the parish register of Lauterbach: (1) Ulric, baptized 23 August 1757, died 9 May 1758; (2) Johann Ulrich, baptized 8 April 1761; and (3) Ulrich, baptized 5 May 1763.

Müller (Kolb)

Jacob Müller, son of Ezechiel Müller & Anna Barbara Weinman, was born 31 May 1733 in Sprendlingen. His wife, Susanna Elz, daughter of Adam & Anna Katharina Elz, was born 4 November 1728 in Sprendlingen. They married there on 28 September 1755. They had four children whose births are recorded in the parish register of Sprendlingen: (1) Johann Bernhard, born 26 September 1756; (2) Anna Margaretha, born 29 August 1758; (3) Johann Wilhelm, born 13 September 1761; and (4) Anna Gertruda, born 31 May 1763.

Meininger (Messer)

There are three Meininger families that traveled together from Germany to Russia and all settled in the Volga German colony of Messer. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.

(1) Friedrich Meininger, a farmer, his wife Barbara, his mother-in-law Anna [Zeller], and brother-in-law Johann [Zeller] (age 16) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
