Engelmann (Dietel)
Peter Engelmann, a farmer from Pfalz, his wife Elisabeth, and children (Johann, age 17¼; Elisabeth, age 13; Katharina, age 12) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a Russian packet-boat named Severnyi Orel (Northern Eagle) under the command of Lieutenant Pyotr Malenkov.
Widower Peter Engelmann and his children (Johann Jakob, age 19; Elisabeth Margaretha, age 16; Katharina, age 12) are recorded on the 1767 census of Dietel in Household No. 34. They had settled there on 1 July 1767.
Jakob Engelmann and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Dietel in Household No. Dt40.
The 1767 census records that Peter Engelmann came from the German village of Silberhaus [possibly Selbenhausen] in the Nassau region.
