Karle (Nieder-Monjou / Paulskaya)
There are two Carle families from Elpenrod that arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax. Their relationship to each other needs further research.
(1) Johann Adam Carle, son of Johann Dietrich (junior) Carle & Maria Christ, was born on 8 July 1739 in Elpenrod.
Johann Adam married Anna Dorothea Schlosser, daughter of Georg Schlosser & Anna Catharina Gieß, in Ober-Omen on 16 February 1762.
Adam Karle, a turner (Dreher), and his wife Dorothea arrived in Oranienbaum.
Adam Carl [sic] and his wife Dorothea are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that wife Dorothea died en route.
Adam Karle and his new wife (also Dorothea) are recorded on the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 5. They had settled there on 7 June 1767.
Adam Karle and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. Nm40 along with a note that son Martin Karle is working in Urbach.
In 1797, Jakob Karle moved from Nieder-Monjou to Katharinenstadt. Jakob Karle from Nieder-Monjou is recorded on the 1798 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 143.
The death of Johann Adam Karle in 1808 is recorded on the 1811 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 40. The parish register of Nieder-Monjou records that Johann Adam Carle died on 10 August 1808 in Nieder-Monjou.
Georg Konrad Karle, son of Johann Adam Karle, and his son Johann Jakob are recorded on the 1811 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 40 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Kind [year not recorded]. The parish register of Bettinger records the baptism of Katharina Elisabeth Karle, daughter of Georg Konrad & Maria Sophia Karle, in 1806 with a note that the family is living in Kind at that time.
Georg Konrad Karle and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Kind in Household No. 47.
In 1833, Konrad Karle moved from Nieder-Monjou to Katharinenstadt.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Adam Karle came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that Adam Karle came from the German village of Elbenrod [Elpenrod].
(2) Johann[es] Karle, a farmer, his wife Anna, mother-in-law Elisabeth Knoll, and her sister Anna Dorothea Knoll arrived in Oranienbaum.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Paulskaya on 7 June 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 38.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Karle came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Eppenrod [Elpenrod].
