Andreas Knoll, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and his son Franziskus (age 6) settled in the Volga German colony of Herzog on 14 July 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 8.

In 1787, Andreas Knoll left Herzog.

The 1834 census of Graf (Household No. 67) records that Peter Knoll from Herzog arrived in 1832.

The 1767 census records that Andreas Knoll came from the German village of Velburg in the Kurpfalz region.
