Discussion & Documentation:

Johann Adam Neubauer, son of Johannes Neubauer & Anna Catharina, was baptized on 24 June 1729 in the Evangelical Church of Haßloch.

He married Susanna Moser on 3 November 1751 in Wattenheim. Susanna, daughter of Friedrich & Maria Gretha Moser, had been baptized on 11 December 1729 in Haßloch. They had at least the following children, both baptized in Haßloch: (1) Johann Georg, on 4 April 1752; and (2) Maria Catharina, baptized in Haßloch on 14 October 1757.

Johann Adam Neubauer, a farmer, his wife Susanna, and children (Johann, age 16½; Susanna, age 14; Maria, age 8; Valentin, age 6; Friedrich, age 4) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 July 1766 on a Russian packet-boat named Svyatoi Nikolai (St. Nicholas) under the command of Midshipman Thomas McKenzie.

The family settled in the Volga German colony of Kautz on 20 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 Census in Household No. 2.

On the 1798 Census, son Johann Friedrich is recorded in Kautz in Household No. Kz01. Sons Georg Jacob and Adam moved to the colony of Jost in 1788 where they are recorded on the 1798 Census in Households No. Jo38 & Jo13, respectively.
