Spindler
Andreas Spindler, a single man, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Sipper Martin Friedrich Morkau.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Urbach on 3 July 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 47 along with his new wife, Maria Elisabeth, the widow of Ernst Weber who had died after arriving in Urbach. Their son Gottlieb Spindler from Urbach is recorded on the 1798 census of Reinhard in Household No. Rh10.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Andreas Spindler was a farmer from the German region of Gelnhausen while the 1767 census records that he was a craftsman (Handwerker) from the German village of Althausen. It is also recorded on the 1767 census that Andreas Spindler's wife, Maria Elisabeth, came from the German village of Erbstadt in the Hessen region.
